he Fairfax County Department of Community and Recreation Services and the Joey Pizzano Memorial Fund are looking for volunteers to be swim buddies. Volunteers/swim buddies are needed on Saturdays in the fall between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. for the “Make a Splash” program. Make a splash is a water skills and safety program for individuals with developmental disabilities. This program teaches individuals how to be safe and to have fun in and around the water.
During sessions swim buddies are paired one to one with program participants (ages 5-21) to help them stay on task, and to ensure success. Volunteers will assist participants with skill-building games and exercises that are facilitated by an adapted aquatics instructor. Volunteers are the heart of the program so please come and “Make a Splash” today. 10/28/06 - 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
